The TDA7294 is a 100W DMOS audio amplifier IC from STMicroelectronics that combines a bipolar input stage with a DMOS power output stage. This hybrid architecture provides the low noise and low distortion characteristics of bipolar input with the high power capability and thermal efficiency of DMOS outputs. The device can deliver up to 100W into a 4-ohm load from +/-35V supply rails with typical THD of 0.1% at 50W. Built-in protection features include short-circuit protection, thermal shutdown, and clip detection. The standby and mute functions enable pop-free power on/off sequencing.

The TDA7294 uses a hybrid DMOS/bipolar architecture. The input stage uses bipolar transistors for low noise and high gain accuracy, while the output stage uses DMOS power transistors for high current handling and low saturation voltage. The voltage gain is internally set at approximately 30dB but can be adjusted with external resistors. The DMOS output stage operates in class AB mode for low crossover distortion. Protection circuits monitor output current, junction temperature, and output clipping. The mute function disconnects the input stage from the output stage, while standby reduces quiescent current to a minimum.
