The STM32F103ZET6 from STMicroelectronics is a high-density performance line 32-bit microcontroller based on the ARM Cortex-M3 core operating at up to 72MHz. The device integrates 512KB of Flash memory and 64KB of SRAM, connected to the CPU via a multi-AHB bus matrix for zero-wait-state access. An ART Accelerator enables 1.25 DMIPS/MHz performance with single-cycle multiplication and hardware division. The peripheral set includes three 12-bit ADCs (up to 21 channels total, 1us conversion time), two 12-bit DACs, 12-channel DMA controller, and 11 timers including two motor-control PWM timers with dead-time generation and emergency stop. Communication interfaces include USB 2.0 full-speed device, CAN 2.0B active, five USARTs, three SPIs (two with I2S), two I2Cs, and SDIO. A Flexible Static Memory Controller (FSMC) supports external SRAM, PSRAM, NOR, and NAND flash. The 112 I/O pins are nearly all 5V-tolerant and mappable to 16 external interrupt vectors. The device operates from 2.0V to 3.6V with Sleep, Stop, and Standby low-power modes, plus VBAT supply for RTC and backup registers.

The STM32F103ZET6 is based on the ARM Cortex-M3 32-bit RISC processor core. (1) Core: The Cortex-M3 executes Thumb-2 instructions, providing a balance of 32-bit performance with 16-bit code density. The Nested Vectored Interrupt Controller (NVIC) supports up to 60 maskable interrupt channels with 16 priority levels and tail-chaining for low-latency interrupt handling. (2) Memory Bus: The multi-AHB bus matrix connects the CPU, DMA controllers, and USB to Flash, SRAM, FSMC, and peripheral bridges. The 12-channel DMA offloads data transfer from the CPU. (3) Clock System: A PLL multiplies the 4-16MHz external crystal or 8MHz internal RC to generate the 72MHz system clock. Multiple clock domains allow peripheral-specific clock gating for power optimization. (4) ADC: Three 12-bit successive-approximation ADCs can operate independently or in interleaved mode for 7.2MSPS aggregate sampling. Dual-sample-and-hold allows simultaneous sampling of multiple channels. (5) Motor Control: The advanced-control timers (TIM1, TIM8) generate complementary PWM with programmable dead-time and break input for emergency stop, directly driving motor inverter bridges.
