Three trigger methods are supported: A-bar low with B rising edge, B high with A-bar falling edge, or CLR going high. The Schmitt-trigger inputs handle slow input transition rates without jitter. The retriggerable feature allows extending the output pulse up to 100% duty cycle. The overriding clear (CLR) input can terminate the output pulse at any time. The SN74LVC1G123DBVR operates as a retriggerable monostable (one-shot) multivibrator. (1) In the quiescent state, the Q output is low and Q-bar is high. The pulse width is approximately tw = REXT x CEXT x 0.33 (typical). The external capacitor connects between Cext and Rext/Cext pins, and the external resistor connects between Rext/Cext and VCC. (2) The retriggerable feature means that if a new trigger event occurs while the output pulse is still active, the pulse duration is extended from the new trigger point. This allows achieving very long output pulses or even 100% duty cycle by continuously retriggering before the pulse expires. Conversely, taking CLR low immediately terminates the output pulse regardless of the timing, providing an overriding reset function. (3) The Schmitt-trigger inputs on A-bar and B provide hysteresis that eliminates output jitter caused by slow or noisy input edges. This is critical in applications where the trigger signal comes from a mechanical switch (with contact bounce) or a slowly rising signal from an RC network. The IOff circuitry ensures the outputs are high-impedance when VCC is 0V, preventing back-drive damage in hot-swap or partial-power-down applications.
