The SN74LS08N from Texas Instruments contains four independent 2-input AND gates in a 14-pin PDIP package. Each gate performs Y = A AND B; the output is HIGH only when BOTH inputs are HIGH. The AND gate is fundamental to digital logic: it implements the logical conjunction, the core of conditional enabling. When a data signal must pass only when an enable condition is met, the AND gate is the natural choice. In address decoding, multiple high-order address bits are ANDed to generate a chip select signal. The 7408 is the AND counterpart of the 7400 NAND: same pinout, but non-inverted output. DeMorgan’s theorem shows that AND can be built from NAND + inverter, but the dedicated 7408 is simpler and faster. The N suffix denotes the PDIP-14 through-hole package.

工作原理：SN74LS08N 工作原理

Each AND gate in the SN74LS08N performs Y = A AND B. Truth table: 00→0, 01→0, 10→0, 11→1. The output is HIGH only when both inputs are HIGH simultaneously. For gating: one input carries the signal (data, clock), the other carries the enable. When enable is HIGH, the signal passes through; when enable is LOW, the output is always LOW regardless of the signal. For active-LOW enabling, use a NAND gate instead. For 3-input AND, cascade: feed the output of one 2-input AND and the third input into another AND gate. For a 4-input AND, use three 2-input AND gates in a tree structure. The AND gate is also used in product-of-sums logic: A AND B = A·B in Boolean algebra. The 15ns propagation delay means the output responds to input changes within 15ns.
