The SN74LS07DR from Texas Instruments is a hex buffer/driver with open-collector high-voltage outputs, based on the classic 74LS low-power Schottky TTL family. Each of the six independent non-inverting buffers features an open-collector output that can sink up to 30 mA and withstand voltages up to 30 V, enabling direct interface between 5 V TTL logic levels and higher-voltage loads. The open-collector configuration also supports wired-OR bus connections where multiple outputs are tied together to a common pull-up resistor. Input diodes clamp negative-going ringing to protect the device from undershoot in high-speed digital systems. The 12 ns typical propagation delay makes the device fast enough for most interface applications while providing the robust drive capability that standard TTL gates cannot deliver directly. The 14-pin SOIC package is compatible with standard surface-mount PCB assembly processes.

The SN74LS07DR operates as six independent non-inverting buffer/driver gates with open-collector outputs: (1) Each input stage uses LS-TTL (low-power Schottky) circuitry with diode-clamped inputs that protect against negative voltage excursions from ringing on long PCB traces. The input threshold voltages are compatible with standard 5 V TTL logic levels: a logic high is recognized above 2 V and a logic low below 0.8 V. (2) The internal LS-TTL gate stage performs the non-inverting logic function with Schottky-clamped transistors that prevent deep saturation, achieving 12 ns typical propagation delay. (3) The output stage uses an open-collector NPN transistor configuration. When the input is high, the output transistor is driven on, pulling the output low (sinking up to 30 mA). When the input is low, the output transistor is off, and the output floats at a high-impedance state, allowing the output voltage to be pulled up by an external resistor to any voltage up to 30 V. This open-collector architecture enables wired-OR connections and level-shifting from 5 V TTL to higher voltage domains.
