It integrates a 5.1 V reference trimmed to ±1%, an error amplifier with common-mode range including the reference voltage, an oscillator with sync input, a PWM comparator with latch, soft-start circuitry, and dual totem-pole output drivers. The P013TR variant is the SO-16 surface-mount package on tape and reel. Adjustable dead-time control via a single resistor between CT and discharge pins, combined with undervoltage lockout with 500 mV hysteresis, makes it a robust choice for push-pull, half-bridge, and full-bridge converter topologies.

The SG3525A operates by comparing an error amplifier output with an oscillator ramp signal to generate PWM pulses. The oscillator generates a sawtooth waveform with frequency set by external RT and CT components (100 Hz to 400 kHz). The error amplifier compares a fraction of the output voltage with the 5.1 V reference, producing a control voltage. A PWM comparator compares this control voltage with the oscillator ramp; when the ramp exceeds the control voltage, the output pulse terminates. The PWM latch ensures only one pulse per oscillator cycle, preventing double pulsing. The dual totem-pole outputs alternate on each oscillator cycle for push-pull operation, with adjustable dead time set by the resistor between CT and discharge pins. The shutdown pin provides immediate pulse termination through the PWM latch.
