RTL8201F-VB-CG

The RTL8201F-VB-CG from Realtek is a single-port 10/100Mbps Ethernet PHY transceiver in a compact 32-pin QFN package. It provides the analog physical layer functions for 10Base-T and 100Base-TX Ethernet, interfacing with MAC controllers via MII or RMII bus. The device supports IEEE 802.3u auto-negotiation and auto-MDIX for cable polarity correction. With integrated baseline wander correction and robust receiver equalization, it maintains reliable communication over long cable runs. The industrial temperature grade (-40°C to +85°C) suits harsh environments.

The RTL8201F implements the Ethernet physical layer per IEEE 802.3. On the line side, it handles 4D-PAM5 encoding for 100Base-TX or Manchester encoding for 10Base-T. On the MAC side, it communicates via MII (4-bit, 25MHz/2.5MHz) or RMII (2-bit, 50MHz). Auto-negotiation uses Fast Link Pulse bursts to advertise capabilities and negotiate the highest common speed/duplex. Auto-MDIX detects crossover and swaps TX/RX pairs internally. The integrated DSP performs echo cancellation, equalization, and baseline wander correction.
