The MPQ2162AGJ-Z is a Monolithic Power Systems 18V, 6A fully integrated synchronous step-down converter in an ultra-compact QFN-12 (2mm x 3mm) package. With COT control for fast transient response, selectable 500kHz/800kHz switching frequency, and AAM mode for light-load efficiency, it is designed for space-constrained POL applications including FPGA, DSP, and DDR memory power supplies. Comprehensive protection includes OCP, OVP, UVP, and thermal shutdown.

The MPQ2162AGJ-Z uses constant-on-time (COT) control where the high-side MOSFET turns on for a fixed duration when the FB voltage falls below the reference, then turns off for the remainder of the switching cycle while the low-side synchronous MOSFET conducts. The on-time is adaptively adjusted based on VIN and VOUT to maintain the target switching frequency. AAM mode reduces the switching frequency at light loads, skipping pulses to minimize switching losses and maintain high efficiency. The integrated power MOSFETs include both high-side and low-side switches, eliminating the need for external Schottky diodes.
