MIC5233YM5-TR

The MIC5233YM5-TR from Microchip Technology is a high-input-voltage, low quiescent current LDO regulator designed for battery-powered and automotive applications. With an input voltage range of 2.3V to 36V and ultra-low ground current of 18uA, it is ideally suited for multi-cell Li-Ion battery systems. The device features adjustable output voltage from 1.24V to 20V, dropout voltage of 270mV at 100mA, and output accuracy of +/-2.0% over temperature. Its uCap design ensures stability with ceramic or tantalum output capacitors.

The MIC5233 operates as a low-dropout linear regulator using a PNP pass transistor. The high-voltage input stage allows operation up to 36V while maintaining low quiescent current. The enable pin provides shutdown capability with near-zero current consumption (0.1uA). Internal protection circuits include thermal shutdown that activates when junction temperature exceeds safe limits, current limiting to protect against output overloads, and reverse battery protection that prevents damage from incorrect supply polarity. The adjustable version uses an external resistor divider to set the output voltage with a 1.24V reference.
