The MAX705CSA+T is an Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated) low-cost microprocessor supervisory circuit in an 8-pin SOIC (SA) package with tape-and-reel packaging. The device integrates four critical supervisory functions into a single IC: a 4.65V precision reset output that asserts during power-up, power-down, and brownout conditions; a 1.6-second independent watchdog timer that asserts WDO if the WDI pin is not toggled; a 1.25V threshold detector for power-fail warning or low-battery detection; and a debounced manual reset input (MR) that triggers a reset pulse when pulled below 0.8V. The reset output is guaranteed valid down to VCC = 1V, ensuring the processor is held in reset during the entire power-down sequence. The 200ms reset pulse width provides sufficient time for the processor and peripherals to stabilize after power-up. The watchdog timer operates independently of the reset function, allowing software to detect and respond to code execution failures. The CSA+T suffix denotes commercial temperature range (0°C to +70°C), SOIC-8 package, and tape-and-reel packaging.

The MAX705 monitors the VCC supply voltage with an internal voltage divider and comparator referenced to a precision bandgap. When VCC falls below 4.65V, the RESET output asserts low and remains asserted for 200ms after VCC rises above the threshold, providing a clean reset pulse during brownout conditions. The watchdog timer is a 1.6-second countdown timer that is cleared by any transition (rising or falling edge) on the WDI pin. If WDI is not toggled within 1.6 seconds, WDO asserts low. The watchdog can be connected to the MR pin to trigger a full reset on watchdog timeout. The 1.25V power-fail comparator monitors the PFI pin; when PFI drops below 1.25V, PFO goes low, providing an early warning before the main supply drops below the reset threshold. The manual reset input has an internal 250µA pull-up and is debounced with a 40µs filter.
