The Analog Devices LT8365EMSE#PBF is a high-voltage monolithic boost/inverting/SEPIC DC-DC converter with an integrated 60V/2A power switch in a compact MSOP-16 package. Operating from a 2.8V to 60V input range, it supports multiple topologies including boost (up to 60V output), SEPIC (output above or below input), and inverting (negative output voltage). The 1.5 MHz maximum switching frequency minimizes inductor and capacitor size. Spread spectrum frequency modulation reduces EMI peaks, simplifying compliance with automotive and industrial EMC standards. Burst Mode operation maintains high efficiency at light loads with only 9 µA quiescent current, critical for battery-powered and always-on applications.

The LT8365EMSE operates as a current-mode DC-DC converter controller with an integrated 60V NPN power switch. In boost mode, the switch connects the inductor to ground during on-time, storing energy, then releases it to the output through an external Schottky diode during off-time. The current-mode control loop senses switch current for cycle-by-cycle current limiting and provides inherent input voltage feedforward for improved line transient response. In SEPIC mode, a coupling capacitor transfers energy between the input and output sides of the inductor, allowing the output to be above, below, or equal to the input voltage. In inverting mode, the output is referenced to ground with negative polarity. The spread spectrum modulation varies the switching frequency by ±20% around the center frequency, spreading EMI energy across a wider bandwidth and reducing peak emissions. Burst Mode operation skips switching cycles at light load, reducing switching losses while maintaining output regulation.
