LM358DR

The LM358DR from Texas Instruments is the industry-standard dual operational amplifier in an 8-pin SOIC surface-mount package. It integrates two independent high-gain op-amps with internal frequency compensation, designed for single-supply operation from 3V to 32V. A key feature is the input common-mode voltage range that includes ground, enabling direct sensing of near-ground signals without a negative supply rail. With 700kHz gain-bandwidth product and 0.3V/us slew rate, it is suitable for a wide range of general-purpose amplification, filtering, and signal conditioning applications.

The LM358 uses bipolar input stage architecture with a PNP differential pair that allows the input common-mode range to extend to ground. Each amplifier channel consists of an input differential stage, gain stage, and class-AB output stage with internal frequency compensation (dominant pole at ~10Hz). The output can swing to within ~5mV of ground under light load conditions. The device operates without external compensation components, simplifying PCB layout. The two channels share the same supply pins but operate independently, allowing each to be configured for different functions.
