The LM2940IMP-15/NOPB from Texas Instruments is a 1A LDO voltage regulator with 15V fixed output, 0.5V max dropout, and reverse battery protection in a SOT-223 package.

The LM2940 uses a PNP pass transistor to achieve low dropout voltage (0.5V max at 1A). The error amplifier compares a fraction of the output voltage with an internal bandgap reference, adjusting the pass transistor drive to maintain 15V output. The PNP topology allows reverse battery protection since the transistor blocks reverse current flow.
