The KIA7045AP from KEC is a 3-terminal voltage detector IC providing fixed 4.5V threshold detection with ±2.4% accuracy. Its ultra-low 3 µA quiescent current and built-in hysteresis make it ideal for generating reliable reset signals for 5V microcontroller systems. The SOT-89 package and zero external component requirement simplify PCB design for power-on reset and brownout detection applications.

The KIA7045AP uses an internal bandgap reference and resistor divider to set the detection voltage at 4.5V. A comparator continuously monitors the supply voltage against the reference. When VCC drops below 4.5V, the output transistor turns on, pulling the RESET pin LOW. When VCC rises above the release voltage (4.5V + hysteresis ≈ 4.7V), the output releases. The built-in hysteresis of approximately 0.2V prevents output oscillation when the supply voltage is near the threshold. The N-channel open-drain output requires an external pull-up resistor to the MCU supply rail.
