The ISD2360SYI is an ISSI (formerly Nuvoton/ETC) ChipCorder voice recorder/playback integrated circuit in a 16-pin SOIC package. The device integrates non-volatile Flash memory for storing audio recordings without external memory, providing up to 64 seconds of recording time. The 3-channel audio playback capability allows simultaneous or sequential playback of up to 3 audio messages. The SPI serial interface provides digital control for record, playback, erase, and message management operations from a host microcontroller. The 2.4V to 5.5V supply range supports 3V and 5V systems. The ChipCorder architecture uses multi-level Flash storage with analog direct storage for high audio quality without A/D and D/A conversion artifacts.

The ISD2360SYI uses the ChipCorder analog direct storage technique. During recording, the microphone signal is sampled and stored directly in the multi-level Flash memory array without full A/D conversion. During playback, the stored charge levels are read from Flash and converted back to analog audio via the integrated DAC. This direct storage approach avoids quantization noise and aliasing artifacts of conventional PCM. The SPI interface allows the host MCU to send commands for record, playback, and message pointer operations. The 3-channel playback uses three independent message pointers that can access different Flash regions simultaneously.
