The IRS21864STRPBF from Infineon Technologies (formerly International Rectifier) is a 600V high and low side gate driver IC in a SOIC-14 tape-and-reel package. The device features independent high-side and low-side output channels, each capable of 4A source and sink current for driving large gate capacitance MOSFETs and IGBTs. The floating high-side channel is designed for bootstrap operation up to 600V offset voltage. Both channels include undervoltage lockout (UVLO) protection that disables the output when the supply voltage drops below the threshold. Logic inputs are compatible with 3.3V and 5V CMOS/LSTTL. The IRS21864 variant provides a separate VSS logic ground pin for improved noise immunity in high-power applications. Matched propagation delay of 170ns typical for both channels ensures symmetrical switching. The device uses proprietary HVIC and latch-immune CMOS technology for rugged monolithic construction.

The IRS21864STRPBF integrates high-voltage level shifting with gate driver outputs. (1) Low-Side Channel: The LIN logic input drives the LO output directly through a buffer stage. The low-side driver is referenced to COM (power ground) and VCC. (2) High-Side Channel: The HIN logic input is level-shifted from the logic ground (VSS) reference to the floating high-side reference (VS). A pulse generator converts the level-shifted signal into set/reset pulses that toggle a latch driving the HO output. (3) Bootstrap: An external bootstrap diode and capacitor between VB and VS provide the floating supply for the high-side driver. The capacitor charges when VS is low and supplies the high-side driver when VS swings high. (4) UVLO: Both channels monitor their respective supply voltages. If VCC drops below the UVLO threshold (approximately 8.7V), both outputs are disabled. If VB drops below its UVLO threshold, only HO is disabled. (5) dv/dt Immunity: The high-side channel is designed to withstand dv/dt transients up to 50V/ns without false triggering.
