The HSMP-3812-TR from Broadcom is a dual series-connected silicon Schottky diode pair in SOT-23-3 for RF/microwave applications. Low 0.4pF capacitance at -2V and 6 Ohm series resistance enable high-frequency operation. The series-connected topology provides improved isolation for limiter, attenuator, and receiver protection circuits up to several GHz.

Two Schottky diodes are connected in series (anode-to-cathode chain). At low RF power, the diodes are reverse-biased (or zero-biased), presenting high impedance and low capacitance (0.4pF), allowing small signals to pass with minimal attenuation. At high RF power, the diodes forward-bias, presenting low impedance that shunts the excess power away from sensitive receiver components. The series connection provides better isolation than a single diode limiter.
