The Intel Cyclone IV E EP4CE15E22C7N is a cost-optimized, low-power FPGA with 15,408 logic elements built on TSMC 60nm low-power process. The EP4CE15 provides sufficient logic density for DSP-intensive applications such as motor control, video processing, and communication protocol handling. The 56 embedded 18×18 multipliers support configurable single 18×18 or dual 9×9 multiplication modes for FIR filters, FFTs, and matrix operations. The 504Kbits of M9K block memory can be configured as single-port RAM, true dual-port RAM, ROM, or FIFO buffers. Four PLLs with five outputs each allow complex clock tree generation. The 144-EQFP package provides 81 user I/Os across 8 I/O banks supporting voltages from 1.2V to 3.3V, with LVDS up to 840Mbps TX and 875Mbps RX.

The Cyclone IV E FPGA consists of a two-dimensional grid of Logic Array Blocks (LABs), each containing 10 Logic Elements (LEs). Each LE contains a 4-input LUT, programmable register, carry chain, and local interconnect. During configuration, a bitstream is loaded into SRAM cells that define the LUT functions, register modes, routing, and I/O characteristics. The M9K memory blocks operate independently of the logic fabric with dedicated read/write ports. The 18×18 multipliers implement hard-wired multiplication in a single clock cycle. The PLLs multiply and phase-shift the input reference clock using a VCO with programmable dividers.
