The CD4053BPWR is a triple 2-channel CMOS analog multiplexer/demultiplexer from Texas Instruments. Each of the three independent SPDT switches is controlled by its own digital select input (A, B, C), with a common inhibit pin to disable all switches simultaneously. The device features low ON resistance of 125 Ohm at 15V, bidirectional signal paths, and break-before-make switching to prevent channel overlap. Logic-level conversion allows digital control signals at one voltage level to switch analog signals at a different level. The very low quiescent power of 0.2uW makes it suitable for battery-powered applications.

The CD4053BPWR uses CMOS transmission gates as analog switches. Each SPDT switch consists of two complementary MOSFET pairs (one for each channel) controlled by the select input and its complement. When a channel is selected, the corresponding transmission gate conducts, providing a low-impedance path between the common terminal and the selected channel terminal. The break-before-make circuitry ensures that the previously selected channel is disconnected before the new channel is connected. The inhibit pin, when high, turns off all switches regardless of the select inputs. The device supports dual-supply operation (VDD, VSS, VEE) for switching bipolar analog signals.
