The BTS5030-1EJA is a single-channel smart high-side power switch from Infineon’s PROFET+ 12V family, designed for automotive applications. It integrates a 30 mOhm vertical power FET with comprehensive protection and diagnostic functions. The device provides an analog current sense output (IS pin) that delivers a current proportional to the load current, enabling real-time monitoring. Diagnostic functions include open load detection, short circuit to GND/battery detection, and overtemperature reporting. The PROFET+ 12V family is pin-to-pin compatible within the family and with the PROFET+ 24V family, offering scalable design options.

The BTS5030-1EJA integrates a vertical N-channel power MOSFET with charge pump gate drive, allowing high-side switching of loads connected to ground. The charge pump generates the gate voltage above the supply rail to enhance the MOSFET. The IS (current sense) output provides a current proportional to the load current via the kILIS ratio, which can be measured using an external resistor. The DEN (diagnostic enable) pin controls the IS output. Protection circuits include current limitation during short circuit, thermal shutdown with hysteresis and automatic restart, overvoltage clamping for load dump protection, and undervoltage shutdown. Open load detection operates in both ON and OFF states with configurable thresholds.
