The BTS452R from Infineon Technologies is a Classic PROFET 24V smart high-side power switch designed for 24V automotive and truck applications. It integrates a vertical power MOSFET with comprehensive protection and diagnostic functions. The device provides overload protection, current limitation, short circuit protection, thermal shutdown with restart, and overvoltage protection including load dump events. An open-drain status (ST) pin reports fault conditions such as overtemperature and short circuit. The device supports fast demagnetization of inductive loads and features very low standby current for battery-conscious applications in commercial vehicles.

The BTS452R integrates a vertical N-channel power MOSFET with a charge pump gate driver that enables high-side switching. The charge pump generates sufficient gate voltage above the supply rail to fully enhance the MOSFET. An internal voltage regulator provides the logic supply voltage. Protection circuits include current limiting during overload, thermal shutdown with hysteresis and automatic restart, and overvoltage clamping. The status (ST) pin is an open-drain output that pulls low during fault conditions (overtemperature, short circuit). An internal level shifter translates logic-level input signals to the high-side gate driver domain. The output clamp circuit provides fast demagnetization of inductive loads by clamping the output voltage during turn-off transients.
