The BQ27441DRZT-G1B from Texas Instruments is a system-side Impedance Track fuel gauge for single-cell Li-Ion and Li-Polymer batteries. It provides accurate remaining capacity (mAh), state-of-charge (%), and battery voltage (mV) through a 400-kHz I2C interface. Using TI’s patented Impedance Track algorithm, it automatically compensates for battery aging, self-discharge, temperature changes, and discharge rate variations. The device is powered directly from the battery via an integrated LDO and requires only connections to PACK+ and PACK- along with an external 10 mOhm sense resistor.

The BQ27441DRZT-G1B employs TI’s Impedance Track algorithm combining coulomb counting with real-time impedance measurement. The device measures battery voltage, current (via 10 mOhm sense resistor), and temperature to track the battery’s chemical state. Voltage relaxation profiles during rest periods determine open-circuit voltage (OCV), which maps to SOC through a chemistry-specific lookup table. During discharge, the algorithm models internal impedance to account for voltage depression under load. The integrated 1.8V LDO powers the internal circuitry directly from the battery.
