The BCM63138UKFSBG is a Broadcom gigabit-class DSL gateway system-on-chip designed for high-performance multimedia home gateways. Integrating a 1 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with G.fast and VDSL2 modem capabilities, it delivers multi-stream IPTV, voice, and data services over copper infrastructure. The device complements Broadcom’s BCM65200/900 central office family, enabling telcos to offer gigabit-class services to subscribers through the G.fast standard supporting data rates exceeding 1 Gb/s.

The BCM63138 operates through three functional subsystems: (1) Processing Core — dual ARM Cortex-A9 cores at 1 GHz run the network OS, protocol stacks, and management software, with dedicated routing accelerator offloading NAT, QoS, and packet classification; (2) DSL Modem — integrated G.fast/VDSL2/ADSL2+ transceiver supporting ITU-T G.993.2 with Vectoring and Profile 35b, handling physical-layer modulation and forward error correction; (3) Security and Voice — hardware crypto engine supports AES-128/256, DES, 3DES, SHA-1/256 for IPSec and WPA2/WPA3, while the VoIP DSP processes SIP/MGCP protocols and G.711/G.723.1/G.729 codecs.
