The AZ1117IH-5.0TRG1 from Diodes Incorporated is a 1A LDO, 5.0V, 1.3V dropout, SOT-223 in a SOT-223 package. It provides regulated power output for consumer and industrial applications.

The LDO uses a PMOS pass element controlled by an error amplifier. The amplifier compares the output voltage with an internal bandgap reference. The low dropout is achieved by the PMOS topology which requires only Vds(sat) headroom rather than Vbe + Vds(sat) like NPN-based LDOs.
