The ADuM3223BRZ-RL7 is an isolated precision half-bridge gate driver from Analog Devices, built on the proprietary iCoupler technology platform. It provides two independent isolated output channels capable of delivering 4 A peak current to drive IGBTs and power MOSFETs in half-bridge configurations. The device achieves 3000 V rms galvanic isolation between the input logic side and each output driver side, eliminating the need for optocouplers in isolated drive applications. The B-grade variant features an undervoltage lockout threshold of 7.0 V on VDD2, ensuring the driver only activates when sufficient gate drive voltage is available. The device supports high-side operating voltages up to 537 V peak relative to the input, with a differential voltage capability of 800 V peak between high-side and low-side outputs. With propagation delays under 54 ns and channel-to-channel matching within 5 ns, the ADuM3223BRZ-RL7 enables precise timing control in high-frequency switching applications.

The ADuM3223BRZ-RL7 operates through three functional blocks: (1) The input logic interface accepts CMOS-level signals (3.3 V or 5 V) on VDD1 and conditions them with Schmitt trigger inputs for noise immunity. (2) The iCoupler isolation barrier uses on-chip transformers to magnetically couple digital signals across the galvanic isolation boundary, maintaining data integrity with >25 kV/us common-mode transient immunity. The transformer driver and receiver circuits encode and decode the switching signals with minimal propagation delay. (3) The output driver stage operates from VDD2 (4.5 V to 18 V) and provides 4 A peak current to charge and discharge the gate capacitance of external IGBTs or MOSFETs. The UVLO circuit on VDD2 prevents insufficient gate drive by keeping outputs low until VDD2 exceeds 7.0 V. Thermal shutdown protects against junction overheating with a default low output state.
