The device provides six differential analog input channels accessed through an input multiplexer, supporting multi-sensor measurement systems. The programmable gain amplifier (PGA) offers gains from 1 to 128, enabling direct measurement of small sensor signals such as thermocouples, strain gauges, and RTDs without external signal conditioning. At the lowest output data rate of 4.17 Hz, the AD7795 achieves an RMS noise of only 40 nV, corresponding to an effective resolution of 23 bits. The on-chip bandgap reference has a typical drift of 4 ppm/°C, ensuring measurement stability over temperature. The AD7795BRUZ operates through five integrated subsystems: (1) The input multiplexer selects one of six differential input channel pairs for conversion, routing the selected signal to the PGA input. (2) The programmable gain instrumentation amplifier provides gains from 1 to 128 in binary steps, amplifying small sensor signals to utilize the full ADC dynamic range. The PGA is chopper-stabilized for low offset drift. (3) The 16-bit sigma-delta modulator oversamples the input signal at a high frequency, producing a 1-bit data stream. The decimation filter then processes this stream to produce the final output word at the programmed data rate (4.17 Hz to 470 Hz). At lower data rates, more decimation provides lower noise and higher effective resolution. (4) The on-chip reference provides a stable 1.17 V reference with 4 ppm/°C typical drift. Alternatively, up to two external differential references can be connected.
