The TPS259521DSGR integrates a power MOSFET with control and protection circuits. The 34mOhm N-channel MOSFET is driven by an internal charge pump that generates the gate voltage above VIN to fully enhance the device. The overvoltage clamp uses a fast comparator that monitors the input voltage; when VIN exceeds the 3.8V threshold, the MOSFET is partially turned off to clamp the output voltage, limiting the energy delivered to the load. The 5us response time is achieved by a dedicated clamp circuit that bypasses the normal control loop. The dVdt circuit controls the gate voltage ramp rate during turn-on, setting the output voltage slew rate (dV/dt) and therefore the inrush current (Iinrush = CLOAD x dV/dt). The auto-retry circuit automatically re-enables the output after a fault timeout period, cycling the output on and off until the fault clears. The EN/UVLO pin serves dual duty: the active-high enable turns the device on and off, while a resistor divider from VIN to EN sets the undervoltage lockout threshold.
