The TJA1048T is a high-speed CAN FD (Flexible Data Rate) transceiver from NXP in SOIC-8, supporting data rates up to 5Mbps (CAN FD) and 1Mbps (classical CAN). The transmitter converts the single-ended TXD logic signal to differential bus signals on CANH/CANL. A dominant bit (TXD=LOW) drives CANH to 3.5V and CANL to 1.5V (2V differential). A recessive bit (TXD=HIGH) releases both lines to 2.5V (0V differential). The receiver performs the inverse: a differential voltage above 0.9V (dominant threshold) drives RXD LOW; below 0.5V (recessive threshold) drives RXD HIGH. The SPLIT pin provides a 0.5xVCC bias voltage for split termination networks, stabilizing the bus common-mode voltage and improving EMC performance. The STB (standby) pin reduces current to 10uA while allowing remote wake-up via bus activity. The device supports up to 110 nodes on the bus and provides +/-8kV IEC ESD protection on bus pins.
