The SI8600AC-B-IS from Skyworks (formerly Silicon Labs) is a bidirectional I2C isolator providing galvanic isolation for both SDA and SCL lines. Based on RF coupling technology, it supports I2C clock rates up to 1.7MHz with 35mA open-drain drive capability. The AC suffix indicates 3.75kVrms isolation and -40°C to +125°C temperature range. AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications. The IS suffix indicates SOIC-8 narrow body package.

The Si8600 uses capacitive RF coupling to transfer I2C data across the isolation barrier. The bidirectional channels automatically sense data direction on SDA and SCL lines, eliminating the need for direction control signals. The open-drain outputs (35mA sink) directly drive I2C buses. Internal hot-plug circuitry prevents data corruption when an unpowered device is connected to an active I2C bus.
