The R5F102AAASP#V0 is an RL78/G12 16-bit low-power microcontroller from Renesas with 64KB Flash and 4KB SRAM in LQFP-48. The RL78 core combines a 16-bit CISC architecture with high code efficiency (2x-3x vs 8-bit MCUs for equivalent C code). The SNOOZE mode reduces power to 0.53uA while retaining SRAM and allowing RTC and comparator wake-up. The ADC can perform conversions autonomously in SNOOZE mode, waking the CPU only when a threshold is crossed. The 8-bit and 16-bit timers support PWM generation for motor control and LED dimming. The UART supports 1-Mbaud communication with built-in LIN protocol support. The RL78/G12 targets battery-powered sensor nodes, home appliances, and industrial control where ultra-low standby current is critical. The on-chip debug function uses the standard 1-pin TOOL0 interface for simplified development.
