The PIC18F4520-I/P from Microchip is an 8-bit PIC18 MCU with 32KB Flash, 1536B SRAM, 256B EEPROM in PDIP-40. Runs at 10 MIPS with internal 8MHz+PLL oscillator. Features 13-ch 10-bit ADC, 5 PWM, EUSART with LIN, MSSP (SPI/I2C), 2 comparators, and 4 timers. 2.0-5.5V supply with Idle (5.8µA) and Sleep (0.1µA) modes. I suffix denotes industrial temp (-40 to 85°C), P suffix denotes PDIP-40. Classic 40-pin PIC for education and embedded control.

The PIC18F4520 uses a modified Harvard architecture with separate 16-bit program memory and 8-bit data memory buses. Most instructions execute in one or two cycles (4 clock cycles per instruction cycle). The 32KB Flash stores both program code and constant data. The 1536B SRAM includes access banks for fast context switching during interrupts. The enhanced CCP (Capture/Compare/PWM) modules provide 10-bit PWM resolution and can operate in half-bridge mode for motor control. The MSSP module supports SPI (master/slave) and I2C (multi-master) protocols. The EUSART supports asynchronous and synchronous serial communication with LIN 1.2 bus compatibility. The internal oscillator with 4xPLL provides up to 32MHz system clock from an 8MHz internal RC.
