The MAX3232CUE from Texas Instruments is a 3V to 5.5V dual RS-232 transceiver with ±15kV ESD protection on bus pins. Compared to the classic MAX232, it offers wider supply range, higher speed (250kbps), lower power (300µA), and requires smaller capacitors (0.1µF). The TSSOP-16 package suits space-constrained portable equipment.

Similar to MAX232 but with improved design. The charge pump generates RS-232 levels from 3-5.5V supply using only 0.1µF capacitors. Drivers convert TTL/CMOS to RS-232 levels, receivers do the reverse. The CUE suffix specifies TSSOP-16 package, commercial temperature range (0-70°C).
