The LTC2862IS8-1#PBF is a 3.3V RS-485/RS-422 half-duplex transceiver from Analog Devices in SOIC-8 with 250kbps data rate (-1 suffix). The -1 version supports data rates up to 250kbps with enhanced ESD protection and reduced EMI compared to the -2 (20Mbps) version. The driver output differential voltage is 1.5V minimum into a 54-ohm load (standard RS-485). The receiver input impedance is 1/4 unit load (48k-ohm), allowing up to 128 devices on the bus (vs 32 for standard unit-load transceivers). The DE and RE pins control the driver and receiver independently; in typical half-duplex operation, DE and RE are tied together so the device is either transmitting (DE=HIGH, RE=HIGH) or receiving (DE=LOW, RE=LOW). The internal pull-down resistors on DE and RE ensure the device powers up in receive mode. The receiver fail-safe feature guarantees RO is HIGH when the bus is open, shorted, or terminated but idle (all transmitters off). This prevents the UART from receiving false start bits. The extended ESD protection is +/-15kV HBM on the bus pins (A, B). The operating supply current is 1.1mA at 3.3V with no load. The driver propagation delay is 200ns typical. The IS8 suffix specifies SOIC-8, industrial temperature (-40C to +85C). The #PBF suffix indicates lead-free RoHS compliant.
