The LMH1297RTVR is a 12G-SDI cable driver and reclocker from TI in WQFN-32 (5x5mm). It supports SD-SDI (270Mbps), HD-SDI (1.485Gbps), 3G-SDI (2.97Gbps), 6G-SDI (5.94Gbps), and 12G-SDI (11.88Gbps) data rates per SMPTE ST-2082. The cable driver section takes a single-ended or differential input and drives an SMPTE-compliant 800mV signal into 75-ohm coaxial cable. The output slew rate and amplitude are programmable via SPI to compensate for different cable lengths. The reclocker section extracts the clock from the incoming SDI data stream using a PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) and re-times the data to remove jitter accumulated from cable transmission. The PLL bandwidth is programmable (narrow for long cables, wide for short cables) to optimize jitter tolerance vs. jitter transfer. Auto-rate detection identifies the SDI standard automatically. The LOS (Loss of Signal) output indicates when no valid SDI input is detected. The CD (Carrier Detect) output indicates valid SDI signal presence. Power consumption is 450mW at 12G-SDI. Applications include broadcast video equipment, routers, and frame synchronizers.
