The LM358DT from STMicroelectronics is a dual general-purpose bipolar operational amplifier in SOIC-8. It operates from a single supply (3V to 32V) or dual supplies (+/-1.5V to +/-16V), with input common-mode range that includes ground. The 1.1MHz GBW and 0.6V/us slew rate suit low-frequency signal conditioning. The DT suffix denotes SOIC-8 package with commercial temperature range (0 to +70C). The device is pin-compatible with LM324 quad op-amp.

The LM358DT operates as a dual bipolar operational amplifier. (1) The input stage uses PNP differential pairs with bias current of 20nA typical. The input common-mode range extends from ground (0V) to VCC-1.5V, enabling single-supply operation with ground-referenced signals without level shifting. (2) The output stage is a class-AB push-pull design that can source 20-40mA and sink 10-20mA. The output swings from near ground (5mV) to VCC-1.5V, providing maximum dynamic range in single-supply applications. (3) The internal compensation capacitor provides stable unity-gain operation without external components. The 1.1MHz GBW and 0.6V/us slew rate are adequate for audio-range signal processing, active filters, and DC gain blocks. The 100dB open-loop gain provides precision amplification for transducer and sensor interfaces.
