The MCP4725A0T-E/CH from Microchip is a single-channel 12-bit voltage output DAC with integrated EEPROM in SOT-23-6. The EEPROM stores the DAC register value, enabling the device to restore its output to a known state on power-up without MCU intervention. The rail-to-rail output buffer drives loads directly without external amplification. The I2C interface supports up to 3.4MHz high-speed mode. The A0 pin provides two selectable I2C addresses for bus sharing. The A0 suffix denotes address 0x62 (A0=GND).

The MCP4725A0T-E/CH operates as a 12-bit I2C digital-to-analog converter. (1) The 12-bit DAC core uses a resistor-string architecture with a rail-to-rail output buffer. The output voltage is VOUT = VDD x (DAC_CODE / 4096), where DAC_CODE ranges from 0 to 4095. The +/-0.2 LSB DNL ensures monotonic behavior across all codes. (2) The EEPROM stores the DAC register value and configuration bits. On power-up, the device reads the EEPROM and sets the DAC output to the stored value. This is critical for applications requiring known output state before the MCU initializes. Write commands can update the DAC register only (volatile) or both DAC register and EEPROM (non-volatile). (3) The I2C interface supports standard (100kHz), fast (400kHz), and high-speed (3.4MHz) modes. A write command consists of: address byte, command byte (with write type), and 2 data bytes (12-bit DAC value + 4 config bits). The 6us settling time supports fast update rates.
