The LM358ADR from Texas Instruments is the A-grade version of the industry-standard LM358 dual operational amplifier in an 8-pin SOIC tape-and-reel package. The A suffix indicates the improved grade with 3mV maximum input offset voltage at 25C, compared to 7mV for the standard LM358. This makes the LM358ADR suitable for applications requiring better DC precision without moving to a more expensive precision op-amp. The device retains all the classic LM358 advantages: 3V to 36V single-supply operation, ground-including common-mode input range, 700kHz gain-bandwidth product, and 300uA per-channel quiescent current. Pin-compatible with both the standard LM358 and the upgraded LM358B, it provides a drop-in precision improvement.

The LM358A operates identically to the standard LM358 with the same three-stage architecture per channel: (1) PNP Differential Input: Provides ground-including common-mode range. The A-grade version uses tighter-matched input transistors to achieve 3mV max offset versus 7mV standard. (2) High-Gain Stage: Internal compensation provides 700kHz GBW and 0.3V/us slew rate with unity-gain stability. (3) Class AB Output: Can source 20mA and sink 10mA, swinging to within 1.5V of V+ and within millivolts of ground. The output voltage swing to near-ground is a key advantage for single-supply applications.
