The LM1117MPX-1.8/NOPB is an 800mA low-dropout linear regulator from Texas Instruments with a fixed 1.8V output. Its 1.1V typical dropout voltage at full load allows efficient regulation from a 3.3V input supply. The ±1% output accuracy ensures reliable operation of voltage-sensitive digital logic. The SOT-223 package provides good thermal performance in a compact footprint, and the device includes built-in current limiting and thermal shutdown for robust fault protection.

The LM1117MPX-1.8/NOPB is a series-pass linear regulator using a PNP transistor as the pass element. The error amplifier compares a fraction of the output voltage (sensed through an internal resistor divider) with a 1.25V bandgap reference. The amplifier drives the base of the PNP pass transistor to maintain the output at 1.8V. The PNP pass element allows dropout voltage as low as 1.1V, compared to 2V for NPN-pass LDOs, because the base drive can pull below the output. Internal current limiting protects against overloads, and thermal shutdown disables the output when junction temperature exceeds 165°C.
