The LIS3LV02DL is a 3-axis digital output accelerometer from STMicroelectronics offering ±2g and ±6g selectable full-scale ranges with 12-bit resolution. Packaged in a compact LGA-16 (4x4x1.5mm) outline, it integrates a MEMS sensing element with a signal conditioning ASIC to provide fully digital acceleration data via SPI or I2C interface. The device consumes only 0.5mA in active mode and 2µA in power-down, making it suitable for battery-powered motion sensing applications.

The LIS3LV02DL uses a capacitive MEMS sensing element where a proof mass suspended by silicon springs moves under acceleration, changing the capacitance between fixed and moving electrodes. Each axis has its own capacitive half-bridge, and a sigma-delta (ΔΣ) ADC converts the differential capacitance to a 12-bit digital word. The ASIC includes low-pass filtering with programmable bandwidth (40-2560Hz), temperature compensation, and self-test capability. Data is read through SPI or I2C, with 16-bit registers for each axis providing signed acceleration values.
