The ISO1541DR from TI is a bidirectional I2C isolator with 2500Vrms galvanic isolation, 3.3V/5V compatibility, and 1MHz I2C support in SOIC-8 for isolated I2C communication.

The ISO1541DR is a bidirectional I2C isolator from Texas Instruments in SOIC-8 with 2500Vrms isolation. It provides galvanic isolation between the I2C bus on side 1 and side 2, essential for protecting sensitive circuits from high-voltage transients in industrial and medical applications. The device handles the fundamental challenge of isolating a bidirectional open-drain bus: each side has separate transmit and receive paths internally. When the SDA1 pin is driven LOW by the master on side 1, the isolator transmits this state across the capacitive isolation barrier and drives SDA2 LOW. Conversely, when a slave on side 2 drives SDA2 LOW, the isolator propagates this back to SDA1. The ISO1541 has a unidirectional SCL channel (side 1 to side 2 only) and a bidirectional SDA channel, making it suitable for single-master I2C systems. The maximum I2C clock rate is 1MHz. Each side can operate at different supply voltages (2.7V to 5.5V), enabling level translation across the isolation barrier.
