The IR2110PBF from Infineon is a 500V high and low side gate driver IC with 2.5A peak output current, bootstrap floating channel operation, undervoltage lockout on both channels, and 3.3V logic-compatible Schmitt-trigger inputs in a PDIP-14 package. With 120 ns propagation delay and matched channel delays, it is ideal for half-bridge/full-bridge SMPS, motor drives, inverters, and Class-D audio amplifiers.

The IR2110PBF uses Infineon’s proprietary HVIC (High Voltage Integrated Circuit) and latch-immune CMOS technology. The high-side channel uses a level-shifting circuit to translate ground-referenced logic signals to the floating reference of the high-side MOSFET source. A bootstrap circuit (external diode and capacitor) provides the floating supply voltage (VB-VS) for the high-side driver. When the low-side MOSFET is on, VS is near ground and the bootstrap capacitor charges through the external diode. When the high-side output turns on, VS rises and the bootstrap capacitor maintains the gate drive voltage above VS. The undervoltage lockout (UVLO) monitors both VBS and VCC, disabling the respective output if the supply drops below 8.6V, preventing partially-enhanced MOSFET operation. The SD (shutdown) pin provides cycle-by-cycle edge-triggered shutdown that disables both outputs, useful for overcurrent protection. Matched propagation delays (10 ns max difference) ensure symmetric switching in bridge configurations.
