El TPD4S012DRYR es una matriz de diodos de protección contra descargas electrostáticas (ESD) basada en un supresor de tensiones transitorias (TVS) de cuatro canales fabricado por Texas Instruments, diseñado específicamente para interfaces USB de alta velocidad, USB On-The-Go (OTG) y cargador USB. Este diseño de doble pinza aprovecha la tecnología snap-back patentada por Texas Instruments, que mantiene una tensión de separación alta en condiciones normales de funcionamiento y pasa rápidamente a una tensión de pinza más baja durante eventos de estrés ESD, proporcionando una sólida protección contra transitorios sin comprometer la calidad de la señal. El dispositivo se presenta en un formato USON-6 (DRY) de sólo 1,45 x 1,00 x 0,6 mm con asignación de patillas de flujo continuo, lo que permite su colocación directamente en el conector USB con una inductancia parásita mínima y sin desviación adicional de la señal.

El TPD4S012DRYR emplea dos subsistemas de protección independientes dentro de un único dispositivo monolítico:

1. Protección de línea de señal de alta velocidad (D+, D-, ID): Cada pin de señal está conectado a una pinza ESD basada en un diodo de dirección con una capacitancia típica de sólo 0,8 pF. Durante el funcionamiento normal USB 2.0 de alta velocidad a 480 Mbps, esta capacitancia ultrabaja introduce una atenuación de señal insignificante y preserva la adaptación de impedancia diferencial requerida por la especificación USB. Cuando se aplica un transitorio ESD que supera la tensión de ruptura (6 V min), los diodos de pinza se conducen y dirigen la corriente de sobretensión a tierra. A continuación, el mecanismo de retroceso reduce la tensión de la pinza muy por debajo del umbral de ruptura, ofreciendo una baja resistencia dinámica (1 ohmio típico) que limita la tensión vista por el transceptor aguas abajo.

2. Protección de línea VBUS: La patilla VBUS integra una pinza ESD independiente con mayor capacitancia (11 pF típica) diseñada para la protección de la línea de alimentación en lugar de la señal de alta velocidad. Esta pinza tolera tensiones continuas de CC de hasta 15 V, adaptándose a tensiones de cargador no estándar y a las condiciones de alimentación del modo host USB OTG. Su tensión de ruptura es de 20 V como mínimo, y el valor nominal máximo absoluto alcanza los 20 V. Durante un evento de ESD o sobretensión en VBUS, la pinza se activa y desvía la energía transitoria a tierra con el mismo comportamiento de retroceso y resistencia dinámica de 1 ohmio.

3. Ruta de retorno a tierra: Todos los circuitos de pinza ESD comparten una referencia GND común (Pin 4). La disposición de las patillas de flujo continuo (entradas de señal en un lado y tierra en el lado opuesto) crea una vía de retorno de baja inductancia que es fundamental para la supresión eficaz de ESD de alta frecuencia. Una disposición adecuada de la placa de circuito impreso con un plano de tierra sólido debajo del dispositivo optimiza aún más el rendimiento de la sujeción.
