The ME6211C33M5G from Microne is a 500mA low-dropout linear regulator with fixed 3.3V output in a SOT-23-5 package. Delivering 500mA from a package typically rated for 150-300mA, it stands out for its high current density. The 400mV dropout at full load allows operation from inputs as low as 3.7V, making it compatible with single Li-ion cells. The 50uA quiescent current and 0.1uA shutdown current extend battery life. An enable pin provides on/off control. Thermal shutdown and current limiting protect against faults. Stable with a 1uF ceramic output capacitor, it offers a cost-effective solution for 3.3V power in IoT and portable designs.

The ME6211C33M5G uses a P-channel MOSFET pass element in a low-dropout configuration. The error amplifier compares the output voltage (through an internal divider) with a precision bandgap reference and drives the PMOS gate to maintain 3.3V regulation. The 400mV dropout at 500mA results from the PMOS on-resistance. The enable pin controls bias circuitry; when LOW, the device enters shutdown drawing only 0.1uA. Current limiting and thermal shutdown protect against overload and overheating. A 1uF ceramic output capacitor ensures loop stability.
