The LTM4644EY#PBF from Analog Devices is a quad output step-down DC/DC uModule regulator providing 4 A per channel with the ability to parallel outputs for up to 16 A total. The module integrates the switching controllers, power MOSFETs, inductors, and all support components in a compact 9 x 15 x 5.01 mm BGA package—only bulk input and output capacitors are needed to complete the design. Operating over an input range of 4 V to 14 V (down to 2.375 V with external bias), the device supports output voltages from 0.6 V to 5.5 V with ±1.5% total regulation accuracy. Current mode control ensures fast transient response and easy loop compensation.

Each of the four channels in the LTM4644EY operates as an independent current-mode buck converter. The internal controller generates PWM signals to drive the integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs, stepping down the input voltage to the desired output level. The output voltage is set by an external resistor divider from VOUT to the FB pin (the LTM4644-1 variant integrates the top feedback resistor). Current mode control uses the inductor current as the inner loop variable, providing cycle-by-cycle current limiting and inherent input voltage feedforward for improved line regulation. The RUN pin controls each channel independently, while the TRACK/SS pin enables output voltage tracking and programmable soft-start. The CLKIN/CLKOUT pins allow multiple modules to synchronize their switching frequencies, preventing beat-frequency interference in noise-sensitive systems.
