The DRV8838DSGR is an H-bridge motor driver from Texas Instruments in WSON-8 (2x2mm), rated for 1.8A peak and 1A continuous output current with 1.8-11V motor supply. The H-bridge consists of four N-channel MOSFETs (two high-side, two low-side) in an H configuration. The IN1/IN2 inputs control the bridge state: IN1=1/IN2=0 = forward, IN1=0/IN2=1 = reverse, IN1=1/IN2=1 = brake (both low-side on), IN1=0/IN2=0 = coast (all off, high impedance). The MOSFETs have 360mOhm RDS(on) (high-side + low-side total), producing 0.36V drop at 1A. The device integrates: (1) Internal charge pump for high-side N-ch gate drive (no external bootstrap needed); (2) Overcurrent protection at 2.5A (trip threshold); (3) Thermal shutdown at 160C; (4) Under-voltage lockout at 1.6V. PWM speed control is achieved by pulsing IN1 or IN2 at 20kHz+ (above audible range). The nSLEEP pin puts the device in ultra-low-power mode (50nA) for battery-powered applications. The WSON-8 package has an exposed thermal pad for heat dissipation. The -DSGR suffix specifies WSON-8, tape-and-reel. Applications include: coin vibration motors, small DC motors in toys, and lens focus motors in cameras.
