The NCV8402ADDR2G from onsemi is a dual self-protected low-side power driver in SOIC-8. Integrates D-MOS output with overcurrent limiting, thermal shutdown with auto-restart, active drain-to-gate overvoltage clamp, and ESD protection. The 42V internal clamp handles inductive kickback without external components. Logic-level input compatible with 3V and 5V MCU GPIO. AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive.

The NCV8402ADDR2G operates as a dual self-protected low-side driver. (1) Each channel has a logic input driving an N-channel D-MOS output. When input is high, D-MOS turns on connecting load to ground through 165mOhm RDS(on). (2) Overcurrent protection limits drain current to 2A. Thermal shutdown turns off output at 170C with auto-restart at 155C. (3) Active drain-to-gate clamp limits drain voltage to 42V during inductive turn-off, eliminating need for external freewheeling diodes.
