The LTC4359HMS-1#PBF from Analog Devices is a positive high-voltage ideal diode controller in MSOP-8. It drives an external N-channel MOSFET to replace a Schottky diode, controlling forward voltage drop to 30mV for smooth current delivery. The -1 variant supports back-to-back MOSFET configuration for load switch applications. The H grade extends temperature to -40 to +125C with AEC-Q100 qualification. The 4-80V range and -40V reverse protection cover automotive and telecom applications.

The LTC4359HMS-1#PBF operates as an ideal diode controller. (1) The GATE amplifier senses the voltage across IN and OUT (the MOSFET drain-source) and drives the MOSFET gate to maintain a 30mV forward drop. At light loads, the gate is actively regulated to maintain 30mV. At heavy loads, the MOSFET is fully enhanced and the drop equals ILOAD x RDS(on). (2) If the input voltage drops rapidly (e.g., input short), reverse current temporarily flows through the MOSFET body diode. The LTC4359 detects this within 0.3us and pulls the gate low, turning off the MOSFET and minimizing reverse current transients. (3) The -1 variant supports back-to-back MOSFET configuration where a second MOSFET blocks the body diode conduction path, providing true bidirectional blocking for load switch applications. In shutdown (SHDN pin <0.6V), the supply current drops to 9uA.
