The ADUM7441ARQZ-RL7 is a quad-channel (2/2 bidirectional) digital isolator from Analog Devices in QSOP-16 with 5000Vrms isolation rating and 25Mbps data rate. It uses iCoupler technology: chip-scale transformer coils fabricated in a planar CMOS process, with a polyimide insulation layer between primary and secondary coils providing 5000Vrms isolation. Unlike optocouplers that use light, the iCoupler transfers data via magnetic coupling. The transmitter encodes the input signal into high-frequency pulses (approximately 300MHz carrier) that magnetically couple across the isolation barrier. The receiver demodulates and reconstructs the original signal. This approach eliminates the LED aging, slow response, and CTR degradation of optocouplers. Each side operates independently at 2.7-5.5V, enabling level translation across the isolation barrier. The refresh circuit periodically transmits the DC state across the barrier to maintain correct output even with no signal transitions. Quiescent current is 1.5mA per channel at 5V.
