The ADUM1301BRWZ-RL from Analog Devices is a triple-channel digital isolator built on iCoupler magnetic isolation technology. With two forward channels and one reverse channel, it is ideal for isolating bidirectional communication interfaces such as SPI (SCLK, MOSI/SDI, MISO/SDO). The device provides 2.5kV rms galvanic isolation per UL 1577 with minimum 25kV/us common-mode transient immunity, making it suitable for noisy industrial environments. Both sides operate from 2.7V to 5.5V, enabling level translation between different voltage domains. The RL suffix indicates tape and reel packaging.

The ADUM1301BRWZ-RL operates using iCoupler magnetic isolation technology. (1) Each channel consists of a CMOS encoder on the input side that converts the digital input into high-frequency pulses driving on-chip planar transformer windings. The magnetic coupling transfers the signal across the isolation barrier, where a CMOS decoder reconstructs the digital signal. (2) The two forward channels (VIA to VOA, VIB to VOB) carry signals from side 1 to side 2, while the one reverse channel (VIC to VOC) carries a signal from side 2 to side 1, enabling bidirectional communication. (3) The refresh circuit continuously pulses the transformers even when the input is static, ensuring the output state is maintained correctly.
