The ADS1230IPWR from Texas Instruments is a precision 20-bit delta-sigma ADC designed for bridge sensor applications such as weigh scales and pressure sensors. With an onboard PGA (gain 64 or 128), onboard oscillator, and 40nV RMS noise at 10SPS, it provides a complete front-end solution. The 3rd-order modulator and 4th-order digital filter deliver 18-bit noise-free resolution. Pin-driven control eliminates register programming complexity. Simultaneous 50/60Hz rejection suits industrial environments.

The ADS1230 uses a 3rd-order delta-sigma modulator to oversample the input signal, pushing quantization noise to high frequencies. The 4th-order digital filter decimates the modulator output to 10 or 80 SPS. The PGA amplifies the differential bridge signal by 64x or 128x before conversion. Offset calibration is performed on demand by shorting the inputs internally. The 2-wire serial interface outputs conversion data directly to MCU.
